Mary Ann Horn

March 14, 1939 — October 8, 2022

Evangelist Mary Ann Horn was born March 14, 1939 in Whatley, Alabama to the late Homer A. Horn and Nettie Lou Robinson-Horn-Robinson. Evangelist Mary Ann Horn (known hereafter as "Mary") passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022 with her family at her bedside. She was the second of eight children with one preceding her in death.

Mary was educated in Mobile, Alabama. On November 19, 1955, Mary was united in marriage to her childhood friend and soulmate, the late Bishop Jessie Lee Horn, Sr. and to their union, six children were born (5 in Mobile, AL and 1 in Cleveland, OH).

October 10, 1966, Mary and husband (Jessie Sr.) moved their entire family from Mobile, AL to Cleveland, OH for a new beginning and a better way of life.

The highlight of Mary's life was her children, grandchildren and their descendants. Throughout her life, Mary had various jobs including, serving as a Nurses Assistant, Private Duty Geriatric Caretaker, Factory Worker, Cosmetologist (Family/Neighborhood), Salesperson, Seamstress and a Cook. Regardless of employment, Mary primarily functioned as a full-time homemaker. She loved it, and loved raising her children and other children, such as her foster and God children. She enjoyed being a homemaker more than anything else. She routinely sacrificed everything for her family to ensure all would have the best of everything along with home cooked meals two to three times a day. Mary was a caring and nurturing person to a fault. She made and even purchased clothing to give to those who were less fortunate, and she taught young women how to dress appropriately and beautify themselves in moderation.

Mary had a strong Christian upbringing. She loved the Lord and enjoyed everything about church. Around the house, she routinely prayed and sang gospel tunes. After being in Cleveland for about seven years, Mary took an interest in a Pentecostal apostolic church. She began to regularly attend the Bethlehem Temple Church under the pastorship of the late Bishop Jesse James. In early January 1973, Mary received the Holy Ghost and subsequently she was baptized in the name of Jesus. Mary was very active in the church. She was a member and church affiliate of both the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith (PCAF, Inc.) and the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (PAW). Mary volunteered to help locally and nationally, wherever there was a need. She had a can-do-spirit, which made it easy for church leadership to recognize and appoint her into many auxiliary support functions that gave her the necessary knowledge/skills to progressively gain the respect of her peers and church members. As such, she was voted to serve as vice president and later president of several prominent church auxiliaries (i.e. Missionary Dept. and Pastors-Aide Dept., etc.). Mary advanced rapidly across church functions, including Christian leadership. She was ultimately called by the Lord into the ministry.

In September 1985, Mary followed her husband, who was called to the pastorate. As a first lady and minister, she held multiple positions while the church was growing. She was ordained as an Evangelist and later, an ordained Elder. She was an avid lover of the word of God, and was known as a natural enthusiastic, fiery and well-versed teacher and minister of the gospel. She made it her life's mission to know and share biblical truths with anyone who would listen. As such, she was frequently called upon to be guest speaker at a lot of churches and the anniversary services for other pastors in the region.

In addition to Mary's parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by her first born son, Jessie Horn, Jr; a sister, Eddie Louise Horn-Watson-Carter; three brother-in-laws and two of their wives, Willie Lee & Marybelle Horn, Robert Ray & Annie Horn, and Cleve (CL) Horn, Jr.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory four generations; 5 children, Felecia Williams; Gary Horn, Sr (Cyntoria) of Oceanside, CA; Keitha Horn-Kitchen-Jeffries (Andre'); Tracy McClough (Larry Sr. - Deceased); and Homer A. Horn, II (Erica); 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. In addition to Mary's biological children, she loved and raised or helped raise 11 God children, Tasha Barnett; Michael Daniels, Sr (Debra); Melvin Scott (Linda); Norman Hughes, Sr; Leon Hughes (Tiffany), Rhonda Jenkins, Simmons Children, (David Jr, Asa, Elisha, Joy, Alicia), and Nickalena Sterling. Her remaining family includes her 6 siblings, James Horn of Buffalo, New York; Henry Horn (Pat) of Mobile, Alabama; George Robinson of Biloxi, Mississippi; Aaron Robinson, Jr (Alice) of Mobile, Alabama; Linda Abney of Mobile, Alabama and Don Robinson (Audria) of Mobile, Alabama. One sister-in-law, Doris Horn (Cleve Jr - Deceased); and a host of beloved cousins, multiple generations of nephews and nieces, and many precious friends.
