Calvin Earl Reed better known as "Fluff" by his early childhood friends, was born August 30, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the eldest of seven siblings which made his childhood full of love and excitement. He had five little sisters and finally, 16 years later, a little brother. Calvin loved his family and always enjoyed their noisy, joyful gatherings, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Fluff loved going to comedy shows and "old school" concerts with friends and family. He was known for his clean shave, the smell of his cologne, and looking debonair no matter the occasion. Sunday Brunch with Calvin was made even more special by the many laughs and secret chuckles about his picky eating.
Calvin's passion was cooking. He took bragging rights for bringing his moist savory steak tenderloin to family dinners. He and his little brother Quinones bridged the age gap with their hilarious sense of humor that kept everyone laughing.
Mother Clordy Reed was his WWE wrestling buddy. He couldn't keep up with her cheering on their favorite wrestlers, often nodding off before the match was over.
Calvin was a longtime member of New Direction Church of God in Christ. In his later years, he joined Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church, rededicated his life to the Lord, was baptized, and attended regularly.
His neighbors, Mr. Robert, Ms. Gina, and Mr. Hollywood all looked out for each other. During the summer, they could be found congregating outside their apartment building laughing and reminiscing about the "old days". Calvin will truly be especially missed by his BFF, Neil Ball, who nicknamed him "Fluff".
Calvin leaves behind his mother Clordy Reed, daughter Cassaundra Unique Thomas, grandsons Safabien and Montaz, stepchildren Barbara, Lamar, Joseph, Robert and Charles, six siblings, Carolyn Gaston (James), Marilyn Young, LaVerne Dawson (Wayne), Linda Wilkins (Raymond), Valerie Reed, Quinones Reed (Lateesha), and half-sister Delores White. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Kidd, father Clarence Reed Sr., brother Clarence Devon Reed, sister Janette Hunter.
