Woodrow Walton Jr. affectionately known as “Red” or “Woody” was called home to be with the Lord on December 16, 2020. Red was born June 24, 1944 in Bellwood North Carolina to the union of Gladys and Woodrow Walton Sr. At two years old, Red and his mother moved to Cleveland Ohio. Red attended Cleveland Public Schools, and graduate from Max Hayes Vocational High School.
Red was united in holy matrimony to Elane McCain on January 30, 1965, to this union 3 beautiful children were born, Terrance, Alisa, and Janaya. Red accepted Christ at an early age. He was adamant about attending church and reading his Daily Bread booklet. Red moved his family to Wickliffe OH, in 1971, where he picked up the nickname “Woody.” Everyone in the neighborhood would stop by and holler at Woody, engage him in a game of Chess, or just stopped by to enjoy his humor. Red would go on to become employed by Ford Motor Company where he worked until he retired in 1992. Still a young man when he retired, Red did not stop working he could always be found painting someone’s house and doing other odd jobs. Woody was loved and well known by everyone, for his outgoing comical personality, and he never met a stranger. Red especially loved all his family, from far and near, and everybody loved Red. When he was not painting, he would spend his time doing his favorite things, fishing, playing cards, and loving on his children.
Red’s grandmother Mamie Jackson, parents, Gladys and Woodrow Sr., brother Gary Robinson, and long-time companion Edna Pernell preceded him in death. Red leaves the memory of his love and humor to be cherished by his pride and joy, his children Terrance Walton (Kinja), Alisa Walton, Janaya Burke (Corey), Carla Strong, and step-children Rasheed Pernell, Tameka Pernell, Phillip Pernell; his siblings Thomas Walton (Shirley), Wayne Walton (Debra), Calvin Walton, Charles Walton (Machele), Margaret Walton-Davis (Anthony), Valeria Walton-Wills (Allen), all of North Carolina, Joanne Williams (Teddy), Sharon Jones, and Charles Robinson, grand-children Ariel, Dominique, Arierion, Terrance II, Maurice, Marc, Bethany, Bishop, Sarah, Sydney, Christian, Darla, Dejanae, Phillip Jr., great grandchildren Jayden, Landon, Maurice Jr., Sevyn, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
