Willie James Levy, Sr. was the third of ten children born to the late Melvin and Ola Mae Levy. He entered this world on March 24, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio. Growing up Willie was known as Bill to friends and family.
Bill grew up attending Liberty Hill Baptist Church where he accepted Christ at an early age. Also known as "Crank" in the neighborhood, he was a protector of his younger brothers and kept them out of many fights.
Bill was educated in the Cleveland Public School System and worked at the Public Garden at the Board of Education during his childhood years. Bill played football and graduated from Glenville High School in 1966. He then received his Associates Degree from Cuyahoga Community College.
Choosing to serve his country, Bill joined the United States Army and served in Germany during the Vietnam War. After serving his country well for 4 years, he was honorably discharged.
Bill was overjoyed to welcome his son Billy and proud that he would carry on his name.
Bill's love of music led him to DJ for over 20 years and was known as "Still Bill the Noise Maker." From his DJ days he met Patricia and they married on September 6, 1986.
Bill worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years and after retirement went to work part-time at the Cleveland Public Library. He was a member of East Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he worshipped with his wife.
Bill had a loving spirit. He never met a stranger, loved music and dancing. He enjoyed giving advice to friends and family. Bill and his wife loved to travel, and they cruised every year. He would travel to Maryland to visit his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. Bill also looked forward to traveling annually with "NNGA" as their DJ.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Ola Mae, his sister Yvonne King, and brothers Melvin Jr, John, and Raymond Levy.
