Versie B. Mckenzie

Versie B. McKenzie, 76 of Cleveland, OH passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, June 26, 2019.  She was a resident of ManorCare Nursing Home. Versie was born May 20, 1943, in Weirton, West Virginia to the late Hozie and Frostie Mae Young McKenzie. She was raised and educated in Weirton, West Virginia and relocated to Cleveland, OH in 1951 upon her father new job at General Motors. She graduated from Glenville High School. She never married or had any children. She was the youngest sibling in her family. Versie worked for AAV Vending in Cleveland, OH upon graduating from high school. She later relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where she worked for Wachovia Bank until she retired.  Upon retirement, she moved to Sun City, Arizona for a few years. She later moved back to Cleveland to be closer to family and friends. Versie was very easy going, a kind soul with a gentle and compassionate spirit. She helped others whenever she could. She enjoyed cooking and going out to eat at her favorite restaurant, Applebees.  She loved baking. Her specialty was her red velvet cake. She also loved to read; she often carried a book around. Furthermore, she enjoyed outings with her friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Hozie & Frostie Mae McKenzie and stepmother Viola McKenzie. She leaves to cherish her memory brother, Roger McKenzie (Jacqueline); sisters, Geraldine Bennett and Delores Terry; nephews, David McKenzie and  Dwayne Butler; nieces, Lori Williams and Pamela Pringle (Dr Timothy Pringle); grandnephews, David & Denzel McKenzie, Peter & Quinton Williams; grandniece, Kennedy Gilliam; special friend, (Maxine Sanders) and a host of extended family and friends.
