Obituary Vaughn Stevenson Thomas was born August 20, 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Andrew and Gladys Thomas. He was the sixth of seven children. Vaughn attended Cleveland Public Schools. He graduated from Max Hayes High School in 1975. He attended Calvary Church of God in Christ from his elementary school days until he left for the military. However it wasn't until later in life that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. After High School, Vaughn enlisted into the United States Air Force. He served 13 years during which time he was stationed overseas in England and Turkey, and stateside in Texas and California. During his enlisted years he was married, then divorced to Leanne Thomas. After Vaughn's military tour he returned to Cleveland and worked briefly with his father in his landscaping business. He later began working in the Supermarket Industry. Vaughn worked many years as a grocery worker until his health declined. Most people who knew Vaughn will agree he loved to talk and have fun. He loved to BBQ and talk about how good he was at it. Everywhere he traveled, he had a recipe and a story about it. Wherever he went, he was able to make friends and acquaintances; one of his favorite sayings was "A mind is a terrible thing to waste!" Vaughn leaves to mourn five living siblings, Pearlie Mae Brown of Tifton, GA, Urlin Lee Thomas of Wildomar, CA, Andrew Lee Thomas Jr. of Cleveland, OH, Sylvia Yvonne Alexander of Cleveland, OH, Janice Marie Leslie of Fayetteville, N.C. and one deceased sibling, Vinnie Elizabeth Elliott; god sister, Sharron Tye; long time love of his life, Valerie Manigault; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends. Vaughn will be missed for his love of laughter and making others laugh, but the joy awaiting him in Heaven will far outweigh the joy he experienced in his earthly vessel plagued with sickness and misery.
