Seabell Lee

May 9, 1930 — October 24, 2019

Seabell was born May 9, 1930, in Dry Branch (Twiggs County), Georgia. She was the last of 11 children born to Seabell (Banks) Stephens and Charlie Stephens. Seabell married young and had two children from that union, Lillie and James Collins. After a failed marriage, Seabell moved to join several family members in Cleveland, Ohio. She joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. During a youth group church retreat, she caught the eye of a young man from Alabama. After a brief courtship, she married Chester Lee in the spring of 1953. Chester and Seabell settled in the Glenview area of Cleveland and had two sons, Larry and Anthony.

Chester was a member of East Mt Zion Baptist church. Seabell changed her church membership and joined East Mt. Zion shortly after their marriage. Seabell enjoyed singing and was a member of the choir until her health began to fail. Seabell was a homemaker extraordinaire. She had an amazing ability to keep her home clean and organized at all times. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed family gatherings during the holidays. Her specialties included sweet potato pie, pound cake, the best potato salad, greens, peas and cornbread and many more!

Seabell was known for her fashion sense. On Sundays, she would coordinate from head to toe and strut her stuff. It was nothing for her to coordinate a hat, dress or suit, stockings, shoes, purse and sometimes gloves. She loved to shop and had quite a collection of hats, shoes, and clothing. Her advice for living was priceless! She was willing to give it to you whether you wanted it or not. Her belief and profession of faith was obvious and not withheld. Some of her favorite sayings included: Babe, just keep livin', life has many ups and downs, and if it don't start right, it won't end right.

Seabell suffered from Alzheimer's Dementia in her later years. She departed this life on October 24th, 2019 in the presence of her husband of 66 years, Chester E. Lee. They were surrounded by family and staff of Paramount Assisted Living, Columbus, Ohio. It was obvious the impact she had on staff even though she talked very little the past few months. She was loved. She will be missed.

She leaves her husband, Chester Lee, children; Lillie Collins and James Collins(wife Glendale deceased), Larry E. Lee (Valerie), Anthony L. Lee (Karen), grandchildren; Tracey Hampton, Lisa Hampton, James Antoine Collins, Michael L. Collins, Damon E. Lee, Nicholas E. Lee, great-grandchildren; Bryanna Collins, Omari Collins, Maya Peak, Makaya Peak, Terrin Hampton, Shamar Hampton, Shakona Hampton, December Lee, Sydney Bella Lee, Alexander Lee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
