In Loving Memory of Sarah Patterson Evans
April 12, 1927 - July 31, 2024

Sarah Patterson Evans was called home on July 31st, 2024. Born on April 12th, 1927, to the loving union of Sherman and Sarah Patterson, she was the youngest of fourteen siblings, all of whom preceded her in death.

On July 26, 1951, Sarah married John Gary Evans of Washington, D.C., who preceded her in death on September 1st, 1989. Their marriage was blessed with four children: John Gary Jr. and Vivian Evans, both of whom have passed on, as well as Devan Evans and Eugenia Evans-Faust.

Sarah accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church, serving under Reverends Perkins and Stallworth Jr., both of whom have also passed away.

Known for her loving and caring nature, Sarah was deeply committed to her family. She maintained strong connections with them through letters and phone conversations, always ensuring that their needs were met. Sarah's interests included sewing, traveling, and gardening-especially planting flowers. She also had a deep passion for cooking and was celebrated by her family as one of the best cooks, known for preparing their favorite dishes.

Sarah leaves to cherish her memory: her son Devan Evans and his wife Reesha, her devoted daughter Eugenia Evans-Faust and her husband Carl, six grandchildren; Devan Jr., Jeremiah, Elliot, Ashanti, Amber, and Devontá; six great-grandchildren, Jermirah, Makenzie, Noel, Nova, Jahmaal, and Nyaire; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. She will be forever remembered as the family's matriarch, the glue that held them together.
