Mrs. Sarah Jane Burton, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, was born on July 6, 1932, in Savana Ga to the late Sarah J. Bryant, & Commie Bryant Sr. Sarah was the youngest of six (6) children, and accepted Christ at an early age.
On August 14, 1950, Sarah, and Robert "Bob" Burton, married and shared 68 years together. They enjoyed traveling the world, taking motorcycle rides, Sunday drives to the country, and spending time with family. Sarah put family first, above anything else.
Sarah helped Bob with his many ventures in the world of entrepreneurship. With the help of her sister, brother-in-law Clancy, and John Berry, she was able to move her family to Cleveland, Ohio in 1954, where she purchased her house on 93rd street and remained there ever since.
In 1956, Sarah helped Bob open his first official business and never looked back. Sarah was the staple in the Burton legacy. Every business Bob opened, she was a part of, either as a cashier, or a stock associate. Bob was the Supervisor at home, and in business, but we all knew she was the Boss.
Sarah also had one of the hardest, but rewarding jobs of all, being a mom. She raised six (6) children, plus an uncountable number of her children's friends. After her "self-retirement" Sarah spent her days gardening, shopping, going to church, sitting on the porch getting the latest "tea of the streets", and taking care of her grandkids, and their friends.
On Sunday October 22, 2023, Sarah was called home. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah, and Commie Bryant; three sisters, Lou Lou, Gruda, and Margrett; one brother, Commie Jr; two daughters, Linda, and Christine; and one son, Robert.
Sarah is survived by four children, Johnnie, Marion, Dwayne, and Kevin; one sister, Clancy; along with a vast host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and treasured friends.
