Samantha Dunlap

SAMANTHA DUNLAP, 96, of Sidney, formerly of Cleveland, OH, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 9:19 PM at her home. She was born on March 23, 1921 in Colt, Arkansas, the daughter of the late William and Mollie (Marshbanks) Chism. She was married to Wardell J. Dunlap who preceded her in death June 9, 1995. Samantha is survived by niece, Correatha Sims, great-niece, Regina Tucker; two step-daughters, Demetrius Dunlap and Gardenia Hardey (Ivy); several step-grandchildren and nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Samantha was preceded in death by four brothers, Elmo, William Clyde, Lemuel and Tolbert Chism; and five sisters, Rosetta Barnes, Mina Sims, Willie Frager, Juanita Shurns and Gustary Chism. Mrs. Dunlap worked in nursing services for over 26 years and rehabilitation services for over 10 years at Huron Road Hospital in Cleveland prior to retiring in 1989 after 42 years of service in health care. She was also the owner/operator of Sandy's Bar-B-Que Restaurant on Hayden Ave. in Cleveland. She was a member of East Mount Zion Baptist Church in Cleveland for over 50 years. "Aunt Sandy loved God, loved her church, and loved to attend her annual family reunion the first weekend in August. She loved to cook and loved her family. We loved her more and will miss her greatly."
