Rose A. Rose Hosea formerly of Clarksburg, West Virginia, was born April 28, 1946, in Hill Top, West Virginia. She was the sixth of seven children born to William and Elizabeth Rose.
Rose knew by the age of 8 that she wanted to be an educator. She graduated from West Virginia State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Rose also did graduate work at WVCOGS and WVU. She was certified to teach English as a Second Language (ESL).
Rose taught grades 3-8 in Harrison and Fayette counties in West Virginia, retiring from Harrison County School District in 2004. She continued to educate as a substitute teacher in Harrison County and also served on the Literacy Volunteer Board of Harrison County where she tutored elementary and middle school students. Rose truly enjoyed teaching ESL students (children and adults) to give them a better understanding of the English language.
Rose received the Ethel Mintor Volunteer Award. She was honored by the Progressive Women’s Association of Harrison County WV as Educator of the Year. After completing People to People Mediterranean Discovery Program, Rose used this training to travel and accompany 20 teenagers to Spain, France, and England. At the age of 12, Rose accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She held membership at the First Baptist Church in Clarksburg, West Virginia and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Clarksburg, West Virginia where she served as pianist and Sunday School teacher. Rose held many leadership roles in Vacation Bible School and other children’s programs at Mount Zion
Missionary Church. She participated in Black Heritage programs in the community. Rose was an inactive member of Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Inc.
Rose was a loving, caring, kind, and devoted daughter, sister and aunt. She looked forward to her yearly family reunion because being with family was very important to Rose. Reunions were a very happy and joyous time for her. Rose was an avid bowler and enjoyed watching Tiger Woods in golf competition. She was a WVU Mountaineer football fan, watching their games faithfully.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lizzie Rose; sisters, Billie A. Rose Willis and Deanna M. Rose Yarboro; brother, Harry (Sonny) P. Rose.
Rose leaves her loving memories to be cherished by sisters, June (Henry) Ware, Sharon (Jerry) Davis; brother, Clifford (Dorothy) Rose; sister-in-law, Estazzie Rose; brother-in-law, Theodore L.Yarboro and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Rose’s loving, caring, compassionate and dedicated caregiver Linda (niece).
