Rosa Patton was born in Huntsville, Alabama on June 17, 1926, to the late Robert and Lucille Patton. Rosa passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at the grand age of 91 years. Rosa accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 12 years. She joined The First Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama. Rosa attended Council High School in Huntsville where she met the love of her life, Noah Cartwright. Rosa and Noah were married on June 2, 1946, and they moved to Cleveland, Ohio shortly thereafter. This union of 64 plus years produced four children. Rosa joined the Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church and was a faithful member until her illness. Rosa was faithful in the preparation for Communion, attendance at prayer service. Rosa enriched the lives of hundreds of children for 50 plus years as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Deaconess Board, The Gospel Choir, the Lydia Circle. Rosa was honored to be named Christian Woman of the Year from her beloved Sunday School Department in May 2006. A look through her many picture books revealed hundreds of pictures, a testament to her love of photography. Rosa's Christian service earned her a great many certificates, all of which she kept in her historical records. Rosa loved to attend social functions with her husband. Rosa led a fruitful life and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and she especially enjoyed sharing her baked goods. On the many road trips, Noah and Rosa undertook she was the designated driver as this was another of her loves. Rosa worked for almost 30 years in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District in the food service division. After her retirement, she became a leader of the Bible Study program at St. Martin de Porres Church. She enjoyed visits with family and friends and was known to visit the sick and shut-in. Rosa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Noah (2010) and her daughter Yvonne (2017). She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Wayne(Patricia), Sherman (Carolyn), Paul Beverly); five grandchildren, Alyssa, Wayne, Jr.(Jackie), Sherman Q., Brandon and Brittany; six great-grandchildren; Kayen, Azylah, Zahara, Brandon, Jr., Amayah and Gabriayl; sister, Lilra Brown of California; brother, Kenneth Brown (Mary Ellen); one sister-in-law, Dessa Brown; two brothers-in-law; James Cartwright and Raymond Cartwright (Roberta); Special Cousin Milton Lightfoot (Gracie). Rosa was preceded in death by her brothers Robert Patton, Jr. and Claude Andrew Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.
