Ronald Morris

April 30, 1932 — July 6, 2024

Ronald Morris was born April 30, 1932, in Apollo, PA, to Schuyler and Lenamae (Cloud) Morris. He grew up in their Sears and Roebuck "kit" house until the family moved outside of town to the thick stone-walled house his father had built on a farm. He attended Apollo schools and the Southern Baptist church in Apollo.

He married his late wife of 46 years, Evadene (Bertram) in 1953. They helped raise several of her nieces and nephews as their own. In 2000 he met his partner Margaret Medford and they have travelled, especially to visit family (96-year-old cousin in Phoenix) and friends in between doctors' appointments.

Ronald, ever industrious, as a teenager, worked as a farm hand with Hereford cattle that he loved; at Isley's Soda Fountain and Cafe; and washing cars to get a scooter, then a car, and finally taking flying lessons. He did any chore needed to earn flight instruction at the local airport where his brothers were training in mechanics under the GI Bill.

Moving to Cleveland in 1950, he pleased his dad by not going into the Apollo coal mines. After laboring at several jobs, like being on road crews paving the dirt roads in inner ring suburbs of Cleveland, he opened his first business, a gas station with car repair. Over his lifetime he ran auto/body, car restoration, used car sales enterprises on both east and west sides of Cleveland. He planned and supervised car repairs and sales up to his last day.

His passion was flying, starting with radio-controlled model airplanes that he built and flew. After renting small airplanes to fly, he became an owner/pilot of a Beechcraft V-tail Bonanza, then a Piper Cherokee and Piper Comanche. Going to air shows was one of his favorite activities.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Schuyler and Lenamae (Cloud) Morris, his late wife Evadene (Bertram) Morris, his brothers Colin (Ruthie) and Bill Morris, Aunts Myrtle, Ela, and Ethelene Morris, Uncles Jody, Lovossor (Wilma), Elmer, and Oscar Morris, several nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Sharon Medford, and brothers-in-law John Medford and Wayne Frank.

Family left to cherish their memories includes his partner of 24 years, Margaret Medford, his 96-year-old cousin Alberta, several second cousins, sisters-in law and brothers-in-law Bill (Kay) Medford, Charlotte Frank, Katherine (Jerry) Adams, Roberta (John Queen) Medford, Martha (Frank Vasi) Medford, David (Geenie Parker) Medford, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, friends and colleagues.
