Ronald H. Crenshaw

June 4, 1943 — June 29, 2021

Ronald Robert Henry Crenshaw was born in Cleveland, OH to Henry Crenshaw and Doris Dorothy Crenshaw (Stark) on June 4, 1943. He is the 2nd oldest of ten siblings.

He attended Rutherford B. Hayes Elementary, Kennard Junior High School, and graduated from Max S. Hayes High School in June 1961. Ronald entered the United States Air Force serving 4 ½ years receiving an Honorable Discharge in July 1965. He was employed with the United State Postal Service for 37 ½ years, eventually retiring in 1999.

He tried to learn and enjoy retirement, but after a year of being bored and visiting too many garage sales, he worked at Key Bank for 11 years before "retiring" again. This time he found the perfect, and busiest, job with becoming "Grandpa Nanny" to his grandsons Noah and Jonah for the last decade. He loved the time he spent with them every day being a Teacher, Chauffer, Chef, PA, Driving Instructor etc., attributing this to keeping him young.

As a lifetime member of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church, Ronald lived to serve the Lord, the church, and the youth. He was a member of the Usher Board, the Senior Choir, Mass Choir, Male Chorus, Trustee Board, Financial Secretary, and provided church bus transportation for DMBC. In the 1970s, he was heavily involved with the Youth Ministry of DMBC. He received his theology degree from the American Baptist Theological Seminary in May 1982. He spent over 20 years lending his voice as the illustrious Master of Ceremonies for the W.C. Bacon Concert Choir. Forover 30 years, he was an intricate part of the Progressive District Debutante & Bachelor Cotillion. He was coordinator of the event and male etiquette instructor. He also was the Master of Ceremonies of the Progressive District Ministers' Wives concerts, Financial Secretary for Progressive District, and involved with the Progressive District Laymen.

Ronald lived life to the fullest and in service down to his final days when helping prepare statistical reports for the church. On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, he received his white robe and his crown after long and faithful service. Ronald was met at the gates of heaven by both of his parents Henry Crenshaw and Doris Crenshaw, sisters Lois Agbortoko, Pamela Ailara, and Beverly Lewis. Ronald's life stories will forever be shared by his wife Penelope Crenshaw; children Robert (Suzanne) Crenshaw, Dawn (Mark) Mitchell, Ronette Crenshaw; grandchildren Amanda (A.J.) Peters, Noah and Jonah Crenshaw; great-grandchildren Tatianna, Maya, and Izabella Peters. Siblings Patricia Crenshaw, Joyce (Forrest) Reynolds, Sharon Goosfundi, Gregory (Gerri) Culpepper, Charlene Douglas, and Eric (Regina) Crenshaw; 16 nieces and nephews; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
To know Ronald was to love him. And as many people know and experienced with him, he always had a personal benediction he would impart to you, and this time is no different. "May the LORD keep watch between me and thee when we are absent one from another." (Genesis 31:49)
