Born on April 10, 1931 in Mobile Alabama, Robert Lee McGowan was the second of six children born to the late Emanuel McGowan (father) and Inell Dunn (Mother). Robert was a man of not only many places, but many faces and talents. To all who knew him especially his grandchildren, he was kind, caring,and always willing to help those in need. He was a shining example to his family and to the world of how we as people should treat one another, no matter there race,religion, or creed. Over the years of Robert's long and exciting life, he tried many religions with much success and the forming of life long friendships, but it was the practice of Buddism that turned out to be his true line of faith. After finding his way to Cleveland, OH, he settled down with Oranell Underwood to whom they had seven children: Larry(deceased); Vivian(deceased); Doreen; William; Robert; Anothony(deceased); Tynnetta and David(deceased). Robert held many jobs in his life, sme of which included being a Crane Operator for Valley Mould and Iron; A Private First Class Cook in the U.S. Army and finally as a Security Guard with Metro Security. He was an avid pool player even into his senior years. He and his youngest grandson Lawrence, went bowling and played poolweekly until illness prevented him from doing so. Robert departed this life on Sunday January 21, 2012. No matter who he met over the years he left a wonderful lasting inpression on them and them memories that he and his family built will always be cherished and he forever missed. Robert is preceded in death by brother Alfonz and brother Emaunel. Robert is survived by two sons; Robert and William McGowan, two daughters; Doreen and Tynnetta, Ex-wife Oranell McGowan and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and close family friends. Public viewing Monday Jan. 30 at Watson's Funeral Home, 10913 Superior Ave. where SERVICES WILL BEGIN AT 10:00 AM on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at the funeral home.
