On Friday, November 2, 2018, loving husband, father and beloved friend Mr. Robert L. Harris, 89, of Shaker Heights, passed with family by his side. Robert was born in Greenville, South Carolina, on January 31, 1929 to the late Ernest and Hattie Harris also of Greenville. He was the oldest of their 3 children. Robert moved to Cleveland as a young man in the early 1950s where he worked for Huron Road Hospital. There he met his future wife, Gloria Bridges. They married in 1955; and raised a son Eric together; and later niece Regina. After leaving the hospital, Robert worked for BF Goodrich and Goodyear as a tire repair man for over 25 years. He later started his own business Bob's Tire Service which he ran successfully for years. He was trusted and respected by customers, coworkers and employers alike. Robert who's been a Christian and a member of Mt. Haven Baptist Church since 2013, was a huge sports fan. He loved watching the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Browns and the Cavs on TV. Robert also enjoyed fishing. Robert, his son Eric and his grandson Elijah recently went fishing for Father's Day, a yearly tradition. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Mrs. Gloria Harris of Shaker Heights; his son Eric (Melynee) of Cleveland and his grandchildren Sydney Harris, Elijah Durham-Harris and niece Regina Hubbert; as well as a sister Thomasina Harris in Greenville, SC. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other family members. He is preceded in death by his brother Edward.
