Raymond Haislah

September 3, 1949 — April 9, 2021

Raymond Haislah was born on September 3, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio to Dorothy Bernice (Waller), and John Thomas Haislah, Sr.

Known to friends as Ray and "Blackjack", he was one of seventeen children. Raymond attended Cleveland Public Schools. Raymond was an amateur boxer who once competed in the Golden Glove boxing competition. Along with boxing, he also loved basketball and football. He worked for a brief period at Hough Bakery.

Raymond was "unbothered" about most things. He was known for walking to the beat of his own drum and could be seen walking almost anywhere around Cleveland. He had a true love for music and loved to sing even though he couldn't sing a lick. He would even make up his own words if he got to a part in a song that he didn't know. Raymond would fill the house with the music from his record player. Songs such as "Sitting in the Park" by Billy Stewart; "Betcha By Golly Wow" by the Stylistics; "Have You Seen Her" by the Chilites, along with their other classic songs by those artists, the Moments, and The Intruders played over and over again. He sang so loud that everybody knew the lyrics to his all favorite songs.

On Friday, April 15th, 2021, Raymond Haislah transitioned into Gods Eternal Home.

Raymond Haislah was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy & John Thomas Haislah, Sr.; eight brothers - Edward (Eddie) Haislah, Franklin (Frankie) Haislah, Sr., Gerald Haislah, Robert Haislah, Ronald Haislah, John Thomas Haislah, Leon Goodall, & Weldon Bates; four sisters - Jacqueline Haislah, Phyllis Hubbard, Sandra Banks, & Beatrice Haislah all of Cleveland Ohio.
