Pearlie Mae Renshaw affectionately known as Pearl, was born January 18, 1930 in Birmingham Alabama. She was the only child born to Nathaniel Jones and Florence (Brantley) Jones. Pearl went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 31st 2024.
Pearl was raised by her grandmother until the age of 10, while her parents sought a better life in Cleveland Ohio during the great migration. Pearl then joined her mother Florence at the age of 11 in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended public schools from Elementary through High School, excelling in literature, reading and math.
Pearl was united in holy matrimony with Edward Dorso Renshaw Sr. in 1949. There were two children born to this union. Gwendolyn and Edward D. Renshaw, Jr. She accepted Christ as a young woman, wife and mother, joining Shiloh Baptist Church. Pearl was baptized under the ministry of the late Rev. A Henson Jarmon.
Pearl's true passion was gardening, home canning of fruits and vegetables, and organic wine making! She enjoyed tailoring for her friends and family. She loved hosting card parties and family events. Pearl belonged to the 'Bronze Art' Social Club, hosting fundraisers for the 'Forest City Hospital' to raise funds to help those in need in the black community.
Pearl was an excellent provider for her family. She provided love, encouragement, and guidance to everyone who crossed her path. She was a loving wife, mother and daughter and will be dearly missed. She enjoyed socializing with her family in various places around America, and venturing to the Caribbean Islands also. She held a special fondness to New York and California.
Pearl leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Gwendolyn Renshaw Ovid,(Darrell) and Sister Ann Wahid, Grand Daughters: Tracy Barbour, Dana Witcher, and Grandson Edward D. Renshaw III, Great-grandson's Anthony Jr (Laah) Andrew (Dawn) and Adam (Dashae) Barbour. Pearl adored her Great-Great Grandchildren Baileigh, Anakin, Amethyst, Jaxon, Drew, Aiden and Ava. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and treasured friends.
