Paul E. Garner was born on May 17, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio to James and Elizabeth Garner, he was the youngest of 3 children. Paul grew up in Cleveland and attended Benedictine High School where he played football and ran track. He joined the Army in 1972. While in the Army he was ranked as a Sergeant and stationed in Germany. He received a National Defense Service Medal for Good conduct. Upon completing his service, he returned to Cleveland where he attended Hickock Technical Institute and studied Electronic Technology. Upon graduating from Hickock Technical Institute Paul was employed by St. Luke's Medical Center for the department of Clinical Engineering as a Biomedical Equipment Technician (BET). Some of his areas of responsibilities were Anesthesia and Surgery. He also worked for Balcan Technical Services as a contract technician for General Electric (GE) and Allen Telecom Inc. As an Engineering Technician with GE he worked in research and development with High-Intensity Discharge lamp projects and was the team leader. He later worked at Marc's and was last employed by the VA working at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center in the Environmental Management Service Department. While at the VA he was acknowledged in 2007 as Employee of the Month for the month of November and later again in April 2010. 0utside of work Paul had a love for gardening and home renovation projects. He attended Morning Star Baptist Church and was a very outgoing and engaging person. He loved people and loved to dance. Paul passed away on December 12, 2019, in the David Simpson Hospice House in Euclid, Ohio from illness. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth Garner; his sister Barbara; his nephew Michael and his beloved dog BJ. Paul is survived by his two daughters, Erika and Erin; his brother James; two nieces, Annette and Jackie; his great-nieces, Jennifer, Jessica, and Janae; his nephew Doula; along with a host of other family and friends.
