Nena Quran Muhammad

July 15, 1948 — April 24, 2023

Hattie Lee Webb born July 15th 1948. She gained her wings on April 24th 2023. Birth by Almeter Bland and Eli Webb In Bell City Missouri along with seven siblings Tommy Webb, Thomas Webb (Pearl Webb), Dorothy Williams (Anthony Williams), Marie Webb, Mabel Collins, Sunshine Muhammad, Halo Muhammad, Lilly Mae Buckner, and Lester Webb.

Hattie moved to Cleveland Ohio as a child with her parents where she attended Rollins Junior High and John Hay High School. Also attending Cuyahoga Community College where she studied Early Childhood Education.

In 1974 she met Abdul H. Muhammad and the two later married when she changed her name to Nena Muhammad. In 1975 they accepted Islam. Nena and Abdul were apart of building the first historic African American Mosque from the ground up in greater Cleveland and the first Mosque built by a predominantly African American congregation in the United States. She was apart of many committees in the Mosque for over forty years. Volunteering for any celebration or events they may have. She was truly loved and respected by the sisters and brothers at Masjid Bilal.

Nena Muhammad and her daughter Kenyetta Helms opened a Licensed childcare center in 2016. She helped to build her legacy. Nena Muhammad was one of a kind. She was easy to talk to but if you knew her, you knew she can't hold water. Cooking was one of her favorite things to do along with being there for any and everyone that needed her. Nena was funny, fearless (until it comes to water), and a realist that did not take any nonsense.

Nena is survived by her children, Hakim Quran, Abdullah Quran (Bianca Quran), Kenyetta Helms, and Abdul Quran. As well as her grandchildren, Latoya Jordan, Rashaud Quran (Apiffany Quran), Davontae Scruggs, Diante Quran, Entionne Quran, Zariah Quran, Destiny Wright, Paris Wright, Walter Coleman, Nia Helms, Hakeem Quran, Briana Quran, McKenzie Hill. Her God son Melvon Edwards (La'toya Edwards). Her best pal in the whole wide world Justine Parker. Two bonus daughters Lorrie Coleman and Yalanda Coleman. And a host of great grandkids nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends from Cleveland to St. Louis and all around the world.

"A woman in harmony with her spirit is like a river flowing.

She goes where she will without pretense and arrives at her destination prepared to be herself and only herself"
-Maya Angelou
