Nellie R. Davis

April 4, 1946 — December 14, 2012

NELLIE DAVIS, 66; Services will be Saturday, December 22, 2012 Viewing: 9:00 A.M. Funeral: 10:00 A.M. at East Mt. Zion Baptist Church 9909 Euclid Ave. - Cleveland, Ohio 44106 Nellie Ruth Davis was the daughter of the late Frederick and Annie Mae Cody; and her second mother Louise Cody. Nellie was born in Chattanooga Tennessee, April 4, 1946 and entered into eternal rest on December 14, 2012 at Regency Hospital in Warrensville, OH. She departed this world the way she lived it surrounded by loved ones worshipping our Lord and praising His name. Nellie attended the Cleveland School system graduating from Glenville High School in June, 1965. Nellie accepted our Lord early in life and was a faithful member of the East Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was a member of the Dorcas Mission Circle, enjoying going to the Nursing Homes. In 1984, she began working in the Lifeline ministry in which she served faithfully for 28 years serving the Lord's directive. "Then shall the King say to those on his right hand, Come you blessed of My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and ye took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to me." (Matthew 25:34-35) Nellie lived her life serving others. It was nothing for her to welcome strangers into her family and call them her own. She lived her life to make someone else's life a little easier. Taking on the burdens of others and making them her own. Nellie leaves a legacy for all her family to be proud of; one of faith that say's no matter the obstacles, with the Lord on our side we can do all things. Nellie was the Matriarch of her family and held deeply to the traditions of coming together and fellowship with the body of Christ. She demanded her children to do their best reaching out for God's best and never settling. Nellie worked all her life and retired in 2005. Nellie leaves to mourn her passing, husband, Eric Davis; three children, son, Leonard Cooper (preceded in death), daughter, Sherie Annette Cody, son, Marcus Anthony Cody, Sr. (Tonia); adopted daughter, Andrea Peeples; adopted son, Victor Davis; step-daughter, Tracy Staples (Ronald); sister, Ernestine Shaw (Richard) of Atlanta, GA.
