Myrtlene "Aunt Mert" Evans, 90; passed away Wed, Jan. 30th; Public Viewing from 9 AM to 7 PM on Wed, Feb. 6th. Funeral Services begin 12:30 PM on Thu, Feb. 7th at Watson's Funeral Home 10913 Superior Ave. Cle 44106. Myrtlene "Aunt Mert" Evans was born to Geneva Mitchell & Andrew Brady on a beautiful Wednesday, August 8, 1928 in Van Vleet, Mississippi. Aunt Mert attended the Mississippi Public School System alongside her siblings. Aunt Mert learned to love the Lord at an early age. In 1946, she gave birth to a son, then shortly thereafter moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she carried out the rest of her life. Although a biological other to one child, she was a "Mother" to many. Aunt Mert was a wonderful aunt, great aunt, great-great aunt, friend and huge support system, will be truly missed. She was the life of the party in every sense, Aunt Mert was one of a kind and no one can ever take her place. She was a warrior, Aunt Mert worked many jobs, one of her favorites being a bartender/hostess. In her leisure she enjoyed the Ohio Lottery, playing cards with her friends and family; and beating them with a contagious chuckle, only Aunt Mert could do. Aunt Mert departed this earthly life on January 30, 2019, she was preceded in death by both parents and her seven siblings. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her nephews, Bruce, Floyd and Roderick; nieces, Joyce, Janet, Darlene and Melody; great nieces and nephews, Michelle, Carol, Mike, Derek, Carmen, Danyale, Anthony, Marlo, Mieshawn, Miguel, Shywan, James, Sharhonda, Kendra, Karina, Roderick, Jr., Brandel, Tyrell, Tanisha, Tashawna, Shephen, Tyler & Tatiana; a special friend, Lena; and a host of Loving family & friends. I thought I saw your face today, in the Sparkle of the Sun, then an Angel spoke and said, her work on Earth is done.
