What can we tell you about Mieshia so that you can understand the depth and breadth of the blessing we had in knowing and loving her?
Mieshia Dawn Robinson was born on August 27,1984 to Prince and Jacqulyn Robinson in Cleveland Ohio. Growing up in a full house, Mieshia not only had to share her space, but she also gladly shared her love, laughter, sass, and flare with everyone. Being the 5th of 6 children of her parents' union, Mieshia embodied the best of us. Her intellect was impeccable. She graduated from East Tech High School in 2002 earning a full academic scholarship, granted through the Young Scholars program, to The Ohio State University. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in 5 years due to her double major, then obtained a paralegal certificate. She worked in the legal field successfully for several years before realizing that she wanted to help people in a more hands on manner. One of her ultimate goals was to run a mobile clinic for sexual health. Always about her business and determined to make her dreams come true, Mieshia re-enrolled in school in a post-baccalaureate program to earn the math and science credits necessary to apply for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Cleveland State University. Everyone was her patient: she examined, poked, prodded, and questioned us to memorize anatomy and perfect her bedside manner. She enjoyed her labs and clinicals, especially being on the labor and delivery ward. She had excellent grades and was well liked by her classmates. Although she did not have the chance to finish her nursing degree, due to her untimely passing, her passion, dedication to patient-centered care, and skills were apparent.
Mieshia also set the bar high in style and creativity. Her sisters readily acknowledge that she is "THE pretty sister." Nails done, hair done, everything did! She had a knack for seeing and executing any look-office, kick-back, church or soiree-while adding her own pop. She simply stood out and shined like no other. Looking her finest and feeling her best, you could find Mieshia being the life of the party. Dancing boldly and singing loudly, Mieshia was always spreading her infectious joy. Her creativity did not stop at her personal style, she enjoyed painting (the portrait she did of our beloved Granny still hangs in our family home), trying new recipes (her macaroni and cheese is undefeated), decorating, writing and poetry. Making beautiful things and making things beautiful came easy to her-she was truly a gifted artist.
As a child, Mieshia was active in her church, Apostolic Faith Tabernacle, where she was baptized in Jesus' name and received the Holy Ghost. She sang in the choir, made mischief with the other church kids, and was a good steward of the church facilities which she helped clean on the weekends. A few years ago, Mieshia joined Calvary Church of God in Christ and was eager to put her hands to work in the ministry, but the pandemic closures put those plans on hold.
Above anything else, Mieshia was a great daughter, a wonderful sister, an engaged and encouraging aunt, and a very good friend. She had this way of making you feel seen, understood and safe. She was generous with her time and energy, always up for an adventure, kept a good playlist on repeat, and had a ready, authentic smile or word of advice. She was brave, unwavering and ours. She was, is, and always will be loved.
Forever Grateful for the Time We Had with Her and Forever Wishing It was More, Mieshia's Family.
