Mary Eugene (Jackson) Williams Wright fondly known as The Golden Goose with the six golden eggs, was born on March 25, 1940, to Ethel Mae Walker and George Jackson, in Mendenhall, MS. Gene as the youngest granddaughter of Sylvester and Margaret Walker, one of founding families of Mendenhall. Mary Eugene was the youngest of four siblings, Gladys Hubbard-Hayes, Johnnie Vee (Hubbard) Gray-Logan, and Bobby Hubbard, all who preceded her in death.
Mary Eugene was the last of the second generation. Mary Eugene truly loved the Lord, with whom she developed and maintained a relationship early in life. She was an active member of Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church and sang in the choir as a 1st Soprano in her younger years. Mary Eugene was often a Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Sunday School delegate for Nazareth MBC. She was a member of the Baptist Training Union. Mary Eugene was a member of Calvary Church of God in Christ for 30+ years, she was under watch care at Kingdom Discipleship Church until receiving her wings. Due to her dedication to the Lord, all her children accepted Christ as their personal Savior.
Mary Eugene had her early learning in the Simpson County Schools (Harper Vocational School). Mary Eugene entered holy matrimony with Lee Vaughan Williams, March 27, 1956 (deceased 1988}. To this union was born six children 5 girls and 1 boy. Mary Eugene briefly relocated to Cleveland, OH. She soon returned to Mississippi where all her children were born. In 1967 the family moved back to Cleveland, OH where she resided until her transition.
Mary Eugene was employed in the domestic field and her passion for caregiving was next to none, this led to her traveling any and everywhere to assist family whenever necessary. Mary Eugene was full of life and loved to travel. Mary Eugene was a very resourceful single mother of six, she managed to take next to nothing and make it abundant. Never defeated she later went on to achieve acquiring her GED. August 3, 2001, Mary Eugene married Percy Wright, Jr. who is a gentle giant who loved her, her children, and grandchildren dearly. He will dearly miss her.
Mary Eugene was called home, Thursday, December 19, 2019, at 9:18 pm. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 18 years, Percy Wright, Jr; son, Lee Vaughan Williams, Jr (Chardon, OH); daughters, Gwendolyn (John) Nash (Seaside, CA), Ethel (Walter, deceased) Woods (Monterey, CA), Natasha Williams and Yolanda Williams (Cleveland, OH), Liaketa Williams (Magee, MS); 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; (1) great-great-grandchild; and a host of relatives and friends.
