Precious Memories of Mary L. Odom

Mary L. Odom was born in Ashford, Alabama, on December 10, 1928, to Willie (Gus) Smith and Allie L. Smith. Mary was a God-fearing woman who served the Lord with gladness. She was a strong and independent woman. She knew what she wanted and lived a good life.

Mary spent her career as a licensed practical nurse (LPN). She worked at University Hospitals, Cleveland, Ohio as an Operating Room Assistant. Mary also utilized her skills and expertise in the field of Private Duty Nursing.

Mary was a devoted member of Bethany Baptist Church of Cleveland, OH for over 20 years, where she actively participated in various ministries. Mary faithfully served on the Ushers Ministry and was bestowed with the honor of Usher Emeritus. She was active in the Cleveland community and served as a faithful volunteer for the National Foster Grandparent Program, sponsored by the East End Neighborhood House.

Mary loved to travel and explore new destinations and would travel extensively with the Bethany Ushers Ministry. Las Vegas was one of her favorite places to visit. Mary also loved to cook and bake. She regularly baked cookies and her punch bowl cake was a favorite among many.
