It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother Marlene Grace Jabbaar, who entered eternal life in paradise on October 15th, 2024 at the age of 81. Born on October 6th, 1943 in Philadephia, Pennsylvania, she was a cherished matriarch, a guiding light in our family, and a devoted follower of the Islamic faith. She was the wife of Abdul Jabbaar, daughter of Charles and Mildred Midgett, and younger sister of Shirley Randolph.
Marlene was a dedicated caregiver, known for her unwavering commitment to her family and community. She selflessly devoted her time and energy to caring for others, embodying compassion and nurturing in everything she did. Her kindness touched the lives of many, whether through supporting her family or helping friends and neighbors in need. Marlene ran a daycare while living in Boston, nurturing and caring for countless children. Additionally, she helped her husband manage a boutique clothing store, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to family. Later in life, she became a substitute teacher, demonstrating her passion for education and her desire to benefit the youth in her community. Marlene had a passion for cooking, creating delicious meals that brought family and friends together. She was also a talented writer, crafting letters to her loved ones both family and friends and an avid reader who cherished the worlds found within books. Her creative spirit touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was an amazing caregiver to her husband, children, and grandchildren, always nurturing them with kindness and devotion. Her love knew no bounds, and her unwavering support made a profound impact on all of our lives. In addition to her family commitments, she remained deeply connected to her friends. Her ability to maintain these cherished relationships was a testament to her warm spirit and caring nature.
Marlene is survived by her loving children, Charisse, Sitarah, Yvonne, Kim, Glenise, Glenn, Shakoora, Kenneth, Keith and Roshan and her cherished grandchildren, Ali, Shaneen, James, Lee, Jamal, Jashan, Khalilah, Yanah, Andre, Ciara, Jaida, Corey, Iman, Tahj, Lannis, Alyssa and Jermaine. Marlene also has nieces, nephews, a host of great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
