Mae Dell Alexander was born Mae Dell Bailey, to the Late Willie and Mamie "Sis" Bailey, in Coweta County, Georgia on March 4, 1942 by a midwife. By the time the birth certificate was filed the date was changed to May 1, 1942. Mae was the oldest of eight children. Mae completed her formal education in Georgia.
After a valiant effort to overcome issues with her health Mae departed this earthly life on December 7, 2022, at the age of 80.
Mae accepted God as her Lord and personal savior at a young age. Her faith in God allowed her to be a strong and self-sufficient woman. Mae stepped out on faith and moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1968. She was a hard- working woman who believed in taking care of her family. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to open her first second hand store, Mae's Thrift Shop. She had an eye for second hand treasures!
Mae moved back to Georgia after running into the love of her life during a visit back home. It was at this time she decided to marry her love James Alexander in 1996. They lived a full life together until his death. Mae was also proceeded in death by her parents Willie and Mamie, siblings Betty Barber of Newnan, GA, Deborah Bailey, Horace Bailey, Willie Bailey, Jr of Cleveland, Ohio, James Bailey of Grantville, GA., granddaughter, Tiffany Campbell and daughter n law Danetta Campbell.
She is survived by one sister Wyvonia Solomon of Newman, GA, and one brother Gene Bailey (Myra) of Grantville, GA. Three children; Ricky and Derrick Wilkins (Danetta-deceased) and Quanita Watkins and two step sons, Henry and John Alexander. Grandchildren, Lamar Russaw, Ricky Wilkins, Tyler Wilkins and Nikki Wilkins, Quanetta Campbell, Tiffany Campbell (deceased), Eric Campbell and Wayne Batts. Greatgrandchildren, King Campbell, Tatum Campbell, Majesty Campbell and Keasia Batts.
Mae leaves her best friend Carolyn Lewis to cherish her memory along with a host of friends and relatives who will never forget the lovely Mae Dell Alexander.
