Services SATURDAY, JUNE 25; wake 11:00 a.m., funeral 11:30 a.m., OLIVE GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH, 2928 Woodhill Rd. Public viewing Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Watson's Funeral Home, 10913 Superior Ave. Luther Burks Sr. was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 25, 1927. Luther was the last born to the union of William and Leola Burks which preceded him in death. Luther, also known as "Lunie", attended Toledo Public School. His passion was baseball, painting, cooking and he loved to hand dance. He worked at J&L Steel, and retired from Arwood. Luther loved his family and friends unconditionally. Luther also carried the family trait, He had a beautiful voice. Luther was very active, not known to let the grass grow under his feet and was one to never let you forget he was the "Child of God", born December 25th. "He was Luther Burks Sr." and had four more named after him. He was a bad man!!! 88, now how ‘bout that. Luther departed life on Monday, June 20, 2016 at home. He leaves to mourn his loss and cherish his memory, his children, Luther (deceased), Ricco (deceased), Lonnell, Connie, Rhonda, Denise (Woody), Ersina (Gerald, deceased), Corie (Christopher); step-children, Doretha, Pamela and Angela; 9 deceased brothers and sisters, many grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
