Cherished father of Darlene, Leonard Jr., Michelle Allmon and Michael and Michelle Harris; Former husband of Jimmie Allmon; loving family member and friend of many. Leonard Allmon, Sr. was born on March 5, 1942 to the union of Cleora (nee: Bondon) and Moses Allmon in Wheatley, Arkansas, both who preceded him in death. Leonard departed this life on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Leonard was baptized by Rev. Dr. Geneva Allmon at the Divine Holiness Church at an early age. Leonard's formal education consisted of graduating from East High School in 1961. He also attended Ashland College and Cuyahoga Community College. He served as a member of the United States Air Force earning an honorable discharge in 1965. While in high school Leonard earned varsity letters in football and track and field. He continued running track and playing football at Eielson AFB while in the armed service. Leonard also tried out for the Cleveland Browns; however, completing training camp he was released on the last day. This was one of the most exciting experiences in his life. Three children were born in the union with Jimmie Jefferson Allmon. They are Darlene, Leonard Jr. and Michelle. Leonard's professional life included working at the Cleveland Transit Authority as a bus driver, Assistant Terminal Manager at Greyhound Bus Company and finally retiring from the workforce as a Maintenance Control Clerk at the U.S. Postal Service. Leonard was well known for his friendliness and extroverted personality who loved life and lived it to its fullest. He was fondly called "Jay" by his friends and "Lenny" by his coworkers. He leaves to mourn children: Darlene, and Leonard Jr. (Michelle), and Michelle Wilbon (Abu), Michael and Michelle Harris; former spouse: Jimmie Jefferson Allmon; two sisters: Birda Lee Bass and Elzola Minor of Michigan; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; sisters in-law: Odessa Choice (Rufus), Beverly Thompson (Robert) and Patricia McBride-Jefferson; brothers in-law: Albert Jefferson (Genise) and David Jefferson. Leonard also leaves to mourn a host of family members and friends.
