Larry Scott Savoy was born September 8, 1957, in Cleveland,Ohio to the union of Robert Savoy, and Willa Mae Wooten. The last of four boys, joining brothers, William, Robert and Michael.
Larry during his formative years played clarinet and was tutored by his mother Willa, how to play the piano. He was baptized at Parkwood AME church where he along with brother Michael, was an altar boy. Larry was an exceptional student educated in the Cleveland Public and Catholic school systems. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1976 where he was a member of the drama and ski clubs, and then on to the University of Akron obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Arts & Science in 1980. Larry then enrolled at Howard University in Washington D.C which he was to make his permanent home. Upon receiving his Master's Degree he took a position as an Information Specialist at the Library of Congress until retiring in 2016.
Larry lived life to the fullest he enjoyed art and books and traveling. He traveled to London, Paris, Cuba, and his favorites, Puerto Rico, and New York. He was also the self proclaimed historian of the family, he loved his family. Especially his nieces and nephews, often sending them gifts from his travels abroad.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Willa Savoy, and brothers, William and Robert.
Larry leaves to cherish his memories brother Michael (Nataline) Savoy and Nieces Robyn (Roy) Miles and Ashley Savoy and nephews Anthony and Jason Savoy.Aunts Ruth Leach and Jean Williams and many special cousins and friends.
Larry or Laurence as he liked to call himself became ill in 2021 and was brought from Washington DC back to Cleveland,Ohio by his family to convalesce at his family home. Sadly this did not happen and he lost his fight with his illness. He will be greatly missed by his dear family and friends.
