On this day that GOD has made, we as one, join in celebrating the life of our beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and dear friend known to many as - Larry James Cunningham. Larry, Daddy, Pops, Silent Knight, Ham, Big Larry, Married Man, Coca Cola, Bread, was born in the grace of a beautiful mother, Emma Hill (Cunningham), and father, Robert Russell on June 10, 1951, in Mobile, Alabama. Larry was a strong, quiet, and kind protector -but if you acted up, he would hang you on a hook. He was the oldest of twelve children.
Larry attended East Tech High School. He was a good athlete, and he enjoyed playing football. In 10th grade, he left school to help his mother take care of his younger siblings.
In 1977, Larry met his lifelong partner, Debra Stover, and remained with her until she passed away. Larry and Debra proudly raised their 6 children: Synetta, Tierian, Tierra, Larry (Fierra), Tatiana and Tash.
In his adult life, he enjoyed doing the following activities: playing chess, listening to jazz, dancing, drawing, completing puzzles, watching football, The Peanuts movies, History channel, Animal Planet, The Rifleman, and The Andy Griffith Show, driving the scenic route home to see Christmas lights and eating Chocolate Frosties from Wendy's and his mom's German Chocolate cake. He also enjoyed barbecuing and making his signature barbeque sauce. He worked for Coca-Cola for 25 years until he retired at the age of sixty-three.
Larry has joined his wife (Debra Stover), parents (Emma Hill and Robert Russell), siblings (Wilma Townsend, Sandra Russell, Revas Cunningham) and his best friend (Willie Bouie) who preceded him in death. Larry leaves to cherish his memory, his six children, eight siblings, Robert Jr, Cynthia, Melody, Tony, Donald, Ronald, Tathlyn, Sharlene(Rome), ten grandchildren(Randall Sr, Deshiona, Tahj, Brianna, Traymaine, Tyree, Tayviyon, Londyn, Remi, Sy'ayre), and ten great-grandchildren(Randall Jr, D'Niyah, Rio, Mashiah, Lil Tahj, Journey, Skyla, Reign, Michael, Shafeeq), many nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends (especially Willard McConnell Sr, Tina Thompkins, Wayne Thompkins, Debra Bonton, Vanessa Sparks, Stephen Hall, Katrina Grayer, Don Phillips, Walt Phillips, Allen Jones, Ordenya Jones, Fannie Layne, John Layne, and Gary Layne, Sr.).
Lovingly Submitted.
