Lady Lue Alice Taylor

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Psalms 116:15 THE PROVERBS 31 VIRTUOUS WOMAN Lady Lue Alice Taylor was born to the late George Washington and Minnie Lee Netherly. From this union were eleven children born. On November 19, 1947, in Collins, Mississippi, the couple was blessed with a very special daughter who was sanctified from the womb. Lady Alice never drank, smoked or used profanity. Lady Taylor attended T.J. Harris High School in Meridian, MS and graduated high school at 17 years of age in 1965. She graduated as an honor student and then went on to an HBCU, Alcorn State University in Lorman, MS and obtained a B.S. Degree in Biology in 1969. Lady Taylor accepted Christ at an early age and was a regular in Church largely because of her Mother who insisted that her children accompany her to church seeming daily. Lady Taylor rather nonchalantly in her humble way indicated that Bishop Charles Harrison Mason, founder of the Church Of God In Christ, laid hands on her and prayed for her in the State Convocations as a child. This anointing stayed with Lady Taylor through her entire life as she lived a life of love and holiness until her last breath. Lady Taylor relocated to Cleveland after college and joined Hayes Temple COGIC under Superintendent James W. Hayes where she was active with the youth and sang in the church choir. Her Mother Minnie Netherly served as Church Mother and District Missionary under the late Bishop Robert L. Chapman. Lady Taylor retired from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District after 32 years of dedicated service. She taught Biology and Chemistry. Lady Taylor did consulting with John Carroll University and Cleveland State University and was used extensively to work with seniors who were doing their student teaching while teaching at Cleveland Garrett Morgan PRSchool of Science. Her exemplary class management was captured in a training film entitled "In The Halls." Lady Taylor was respected and honored by staff and students because of her calm but strong disposition. She related on many occasions that she like the bad boys and girls because she accepted the challenge of turning their lives around and many went on to finish college and become successful citizens. Lady Taylor seldom missed a day of school even when sick and often would say she loved what she did. Lady Taylor met her husband, Apostle/Bishop Douglas H. Taylor, BA, LSW, DD, in 1976. After about a year of courtship were united in Holy Matrimony on July 21, 1979, and it has been a marriage certainly arranged by heaven. The 39 years of marriage has been one of "A Love Supreme." The Assistant Pastor of New Covenant said to Pastor Taylor on one occasion that he believed Pastor loved his wife more than any man on the planet and Pastor Taylor said he could not deny that fact. Lady and Bishop Taylor adopted an energetic baby who they received at 11 days old named Kari Lee-Lynnae Taylor. Lady Taylor poured her love, wisdom, and creativity into Kari and made sure she had a relationship with the Lord as well as being a graceful lady. Lady Tayor was Kari's personal teacher at home and the result was that Kari graduated from Cleveland State University mana cum laude with a B.A. degree in Art and a concentration in Sculpture. Founders First Lady Alice and Bishop Taylor have pastored New Covenant Christian Church for 19 years as of March 19, 2018. She headed the Praise Team and Youth Department in addition to filling in wherever she was needed. It has been said that God only gives his hardest test to His strongest people. Lady Taylor was indeed that person. She suffered very debilitating illnesses late in her life but never complained. She labored oftentimes in bed with her laptop doing the church bulletins. She sang from a wheelchair with the praise team she headed and would often be in excruciating pain but without complaint. Lady Taylor loved the Word and read her Bible daily and the pages would fall out from use. Finally, her eyesight failed her and she held Bible Study with a dear member who would read to her daily. Lady Taylor praised God throughout it all because her mantra was "send Judah first" in every tsunami she faced. She was first a lover of Jesus, a heroine to her family and an inspiration to all that knew her. To know Lady Taylor was to fall in love with her as today will attest. Lady met no strangers and never put other down or judged them harshly. On September 13, 2018 Lady Taylor fought a good fight, she finished her course, keep the faith and joined that cloud of witnesses in heaven for eternity. Praise God! Lady Taylor leaves to cherish in memory her loving husband, Apostle/Bishop Douglas H. Taylor, one daughter, Kari L. Taylor. seven sisters, Gena Johnson (proceeded her in death), Mary Shakoor (Elbert), Betty Netherly, Faye Smith, Toray Jean Netherly, Sarah Davis (Anthony deceased), and four brothers: Willie, Eddie, Freddie (all deceased), Wallace Netherly, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
