Kevin Tate

April 20, 1992 — March 5, 2025

It is with a heavy heart and yet a smile on our faces that we celebrate the life of Kevin, a man whose presence brought joy, laughter, and warmth to everyone fortunate enough to know him. Kevin left us with a treasure trove of memories-too many to recount in full-but each one a testament to the remarkable person he was. His life was a tapestry of love, humor, and connection, woven together by the countless moments he shared with family, friends, and loved ones.

A Gift of Humor

Kevin had an unparalleled sense of humor, a gift that could light up even the darkest of rooms. He had a way of making people laugh and smile, often when they least expected it, and sometimes even when they didn't want to. That was the magic of Kevin-he could lift your spirits with a single joke, a witty remark, or just his infectious laughter. His humor wasn't just a trait; it was a force of nature, one that drew people to him and left them feeling better for having been in his company.

A Heart Full of Love for Family

Kevin's love for laughter was matched only by his love for his family, especially his nephews and nieces. He cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was playing games, sharing stories, or simply being present in their lives. His heart was big enough to hold them all, and his devotion to them was unwavering. Kevin didn't just love his family; he reveled in their company, finding joy in the simple act of being together.

A Passion for Nature

One of Kevin's greatest pleasures was being outdoors, particularly when the weather was warm. He had a deep appreciation for nature, and there was nothing he loved more than sitting by the firepit, gazing up at the stars, and engaging in long, meaningful conversations with his nieces. Those nights by the fire, with the crackling flames and the vast night sky above, were where Kevin felt most at peace. It was in those moments that he connected most deeply with others, sharing stories, dreams, and laughter under the stars.

A Love for Food

Food was another of Kevin's great loves. He had an insatiable appetite for life, and that extended to his appreciation for a good meal. Kevin delighted in the culinary talents of his family, often requesting different dishes from various family members. His love for food wasn't just about the taste-it was about the connection it fostered, the way it brought people together around the table, sharing not just a meal, but love and laughter.

A Listener and Advisor

Beyond his humor, his love for family, and his appreciation for the simple joys of life, Kevin was also a remarkable listener. He had a rare gift for making people feel heard and understood. Whether you needed a shoulder to lean on or advice to guide you, Kevin was always there, ready to lend an ear and offer wisdom. His advice was never given lightly; it was thoughtful, heartfelt, and always came from a place of love. He had a way of seeing the world that made others feel seen, too.

A Lasting Legacy

As we reflect on Kevin's life, it's clear that his impact was profound. He touched the lives of so many, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and connection. Kevin will be remembered not just for the joy he brought, but for the way he made each of us feel valued, loved, and appreciated. Kevin was preceded in death by two grandmothers, Lily M. Butler & Regina Tate; one aunt, Tiajuana Martin.

Kevin leaves cherished memories with his parents, Tracy Martin & Kevin Tate Sr; one grandmother Rosie Martin; four brothers, Wayne Clark, Joe Hamilton, Devonte Scruggs, and Kevin Tate, III; four sisters, Myisha Smith, Tavonna Tate, Nia Helms, and Rosa Tate; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and dear friends.

Kevin, you are and will be forever loved and missed. Thank you for the laughter, the love, and the countless moments that made life brighter. Rest in peace, knowing that your spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew you.
