Joyce Sims

Joyce Ann Sims, known affectionately by her grandchildren as “Gigi”, departed her Alzheimer’s train after a lengthy and rough ride at home surrounded by family. 

Joyce enjoyed spending time with family, zumba, water aerobics, and nature walks. She spent most of her life working in Corporate America as a part of the leadership team. 

She was born to Gladys Dorothy LaSure and Emanuel Gerome Burton Sr, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 51 years, Ronald Sims Sr.; daughter, Tameka Hale (Michael); Son, Ronald Sims II (Yanela); Son, Ryan Sims Sr.; Grandchildren, Aeriella, Marcel, Maxwell, Ryan II, Royce, Marianela, and River. Sisters: Geraldine Overstreet, Mary Woods (Thomas), Lillian Reedy (Ilo) brother Emanuel Burton II and host of nieces, nephews and friends. Sister Diane Deadwyler preceded her in death.

The family has asked that a donation be made in Joyce’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, Cleveland Chapter.
