On October 29, 1924 in Bessemer, Alabama, Josephine Perkins (Dunning) was born to the late William Dunning and Viola Boston. The family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio while she was still school age. She attended Cleveland Public Schools and graduated from John Hay High School. She was employed by Metro Hospital and was a licensed beautician. Josephine married Melvin Perkins on July 7, 1952. They joined Divine Revelation Church of Christ on July 16, 1958 under the leadership of the late Bishop Gilbert P. Morrow where she began her journey as an usher on the Usher Board and later became a mother on the Mother's Board and a devoted and loving member of the Church. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Viola and William; and a brother Kelly Dunning. She is survived by nieces and nephew, Pamela Daniels, Vanessa White and Jerry Perkins; and David and Delores Perkins, a niece and nephew of Connecticut; a host cousins from Birmingham, Cleveland, Detroit and Bessemer; including cousins, Carrie Powell and daughter of Birmingham, Alabama; Henritta of Detroit, Michigan; Janice of Cleveland, Ohio; Delores Perkins; also play son and daughter, Luther and Ora Mason, adopted grandgranddaughter Rev. Yvonne Strozier all of Cleveland, Ohio. There are many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and all who cared for her that will truly miss her radiant smile.
