Mrs. Josephine Jackson was born on August 24, 1938, in Atlanta, Georgia to the loving union of the late Robert and Annie Jossie Burks. She was the youngest of three children. In her upbringing, Josephine stayed by her father's side after suddenly losing her mother at a tender age. Robert decided it was time for a cultural change and moved his family to the north where they settled in Cleveland, Ohio. Josephine's father was a great man of strength. It was his faith that kept his family together and introduced them to God at an early age. Josephine attended Holy Trinity Church where her father was the first deacon. Josephine attended Cleveland Municipal Schools and graduated from Glenville High School. Josephine took a break from her education after meeting and marrying, Samuel Earl Jackson, who preceded her in death in April 2017. Josephine was a devoted wife and mother to her children. Josephine was stern when needed, but affectionate and supportive. After raising her children, she reentered the workforce taking her nurturing spirit and applied it to the Medical Industry as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA). As a Nursing Assistant, she worked on the east side of Cleveland in several nursing homes caring for the elderly and developmentally disabled. Josephine had a deep passion for tending to and entertaining her family and friends. She was the epitome of beauty and class. Her beautiful hair was flawless, and her nails stayed freshly polished, even in her last days. She enjoyed going to church, shopping, dining at Red Lobsters (the biscuits were her favorite), word search puzzles, but most of all she enjoyed being with her family. Affectionately called "Lil Granny," by her great-grandkids, she had charm and a soft giggle that would shift the atmosphere of any room she entered. She was the best. Josephine passed from labor to glory on September 23, 2019. Preceding her in death is one brother, Willie L. (Richadine Burks, deceased), one sister Helen, two children Ricky and Joann, and son-in-law Rueben. Left to cherish her many memories are three daughters: Rosalind (Robert), Janice and Helen, one son, Tyrone (Shirley); twelve grandchildren, Jennice, Samuel "Mikey," Laketta (Charles Sr.), Lakeisha, JoAnn, Patricia (James), Gregory "Brother," Lurene, Samantha, Tyrone, Evelyn & Jessica; 25 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, Ruby, Jeannie, Lilly and many relatives and friends.
