Joseph Tate was born January 29, 1969, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Edward Eugene Mallory, and Eleanor M. Tate. Joseph was the youngest and only son, out of five children, including a half sister, and half brother.

Joseph attended West Tech and John Hay High School. He worked several jobs, including at Case Western Reserve University and, Oakley Car Wash.

Joseph accepted Christ at an early age at True Vine Baptist Church.

Joseph loved his Superior Family, from where he grew up on 117th & Superior. He loved to be around his family as he was the glue that held them together. Joseph was known for his generous heart. He was Grill Master on the grill. He loved cooking and putting people to work and feeding everyone.

Joseph was a people person, he was the life of the party. He enjoyed playing dominoes and watching his football games on Sunday, but his favorite was basketball.
Joseph spent most of his time raising his youngest daughter, Janay, who he called Nay Baby, and caring for his grandchildren.

Joseph had a heart of Gold, he would help anyone in need. He would find a way, he showed everyone love.
Joseph went home to be with the Lord on October 4, 2020. Preceding and welcoming him home were his father, Edward Eugene Mallory; mother, Eleanor Tate; aunt, Geneva Tate; cousins, Nicole Gibson, Leroy Gibson, and Eddie Tate.

Joseph leaves to mourn his son, Jovon Straight; daughters, Donna Williams, Janay Tate, and Sherice Snowden; grandchildren, Jovan Jr., Amber Straight, Keshaun Williams, and Sarah Lindsey; sisters, Geraldine Maddox, Lori Kpanline, Ella Straford Tate, and UJenia Mallory; brother, Edward Mallory; brothers-in-law, Benedicto Perez and Andre Straford; aunts, Monzell Gibson, Terri Mallory, Uncle Chuck, Lucille Mallory, and Geraldine Mallory; uncle, Edward Tate, and Clorise Tate; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins other family and friends.
