Jeanette Bellamy

July 18, 1917 — August 8, 2019

Jeanette was born on July 18, 1917 to Frank and Josephine Thaggard in Miami, Florida. She had six siblings who all preceded her in death: Anniebelle Askew, Louise Mack, Georgia Brolien, Williemae McEcra, Fred Thaggard, and Willie Thaggard. Jeanette was introduced to Willie Bellamy by her sister-in-law Ruth. Jeanette and Willie were married on February 23, 1935. They were married for 56 years. To this union four children were born, Willie Jr., Elizabeth, James and Alphonso. Willie Jr. and James preceded her in death. In 1942 the family moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Jeanette accepted Christ at an early age and upon arriving in Cleveland she joined Shiloh Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Boone. Jeanette served as a deaconess and was a member of the Fellowship Club. Even though her health prevented her from attending worship service, she made sure to send her offering. Jeanette took great pride in being a homemaker and she enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas. Jeanette loved grocery shopping. In fact, she would spend eight hours in Walmart accompanied by her grandson, Donnelle, and her beloved daughter. Jeanette was a "catalog" shopper, as well, and her main focus was to purchase items for her family. Jeanette enjoyed playing Bingo and Old Maid with her family. She was thrilled to be declared the winner. Precious memories of Jeanette will forever be in the hearts of her loving children Elizabeth Fields and Alphonso Bellamy; daughter-in-law, Christine Bellamy; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
