Janet Spivey

July 21, 1956 — May 10, 2024

Janet Spivey was the eldest child born to the late Nesbit Lee Spivey, Sr. and Joan Spivey, on July 21, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Janet was educated in the Cleveland Public School System and was a graduate of Cuyahoga Community College. with a degree in Registered Nursing, in 1987. After graduation, she immediately passed the Ohio State Board Nursing Test and worked as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years. Janet worked as a Registered Nurse in three (3) different disciplines at Mount Sinai Hospital for 20 years (i.e. Medical Surgical Unit, Telemetry Step Down and Neurology). After her tenure at Mount Sinia Hospital, Janet worked as a Psychiatric Nurse at the Veteran's Administration for 10 years. Due to health issues, Janet reluctantly had to take an early retirement from Nursing in 2017.

Janet accepted Christ at an early age and was initially an active member of First Beulah Baptist Church on Woodland Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. She later joined Mount Sinai Baptist Church on Woodland Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio, where she was an active, faithful member for many years prior to her death. Janet heard the call of her Lord and Savior at Lake West Hospital and readily answered.

Janet leaves to cherish her loving memory her two daughters: Jananet Monet Spivey of Cleveland, Ohio, and Jonette Evette Prince of Schererville, Indiana; two brothers: Nesbit Lee ("Bubble") Spivey, Jr., of Cleveland, Ohio, and James Arthur ("Jamie") Spivey of Cleveland, Ohio; an adopted sister, Nicole ("Nickey") Longino-Graham (Reggie) of Shaker Heights, Ohio; eight grandchildren: Phillip Prince, Joan Prince, Phylese Prince, LeeShawna Howard, Mandy Prince, LeeNora Kent (Melvin), Jaela Prince and Keon Bates; eight great-grandchildren: Aaleeyha Hill, Mulan Prince, Antonio ("Bubba") Smith, Jada Russell, Amir Smith, Jayden Russell, Mia Kent, and Ka'had Malone, and a host of other relatives and friends. Janet loved and was proud of all of her loved ones. However, she was especially proud of her daughters, who followed in her and her mother's footsteps. Janet's mother served as Head Cook in the Culinary Department at Case Western Reserve University for many years prior to her retirement, and her eldest daughter, Jananet is Head Cook in the Culinary Department at University Hospitals' Rehabilitation Hospital. Janet served as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years and her youngest daughter, Jonette, has been a Registered Nurse for over 26 years and is Vice President of Clinical Services for 10 nursing home facilities in Illinois. Janet did her job in raising her children, and she did it extremely well.

Janet will be remembered fondly by all who knew and loved her. She will especially be remembered for her love of art, loud music and her favorite musical artist, Stevie Wonder. Janet loved her God, her church and her fellow man. She always gave her very best. She is truly loved and she will truly be missed.
