James Edward Scott of Cleveland, Ohio, entered eternal rest on March 9th, 2025.
James was born on June 30, 1936, in Beckley, West Virginia, to Edward and Virginia Scott. He spent his childhood exploring the lush woods of Appalachia, where he developed a deep appreciation for nature, rugged outdoorsmanship, and his community.
To say James was a hard worker would be an understatement. Throughout his life, he excelled in various professional roles, but he was best known for his work as a boiler repairman. Driven by his desire to help others, James was a well-known figure in the community, always ready to work any day at any time, to ensure his neighbors never went cold during a Midwest winter night. Even on his days off he devoted his time to volunteering at the local food bank.
Conversations with James were never dull. He was well-versed in a wide range of topics from American history to emerging medical science. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. Those close to James quickly learned that he often peppered his words with a touch of sass just to see how you'd respond. If you fired back, you'd be rewarded with the sound of his warm, infectious laughter booming through the phone.
Though he was often a simple, straightforward man, James embraced life to the fullest. He was always open to new experiences whether it was trying an exotic food or learning about trending subjects. As he put it, he wasnt old, he was "88 years young".
James took immense pride in serving his country, with his time in the Army taking him to both domestic and international posts.
He will be remembered for his boundless altruism, sharp wit, and endearing stubbornness.
James is survived by his daughters Priscilla, Angela (Patrick), Desiree and Heidi. Grandchildren Joseph, Jessica, Chelsea (Kelsyn), Ian, and many great grandchildren
Funeral services will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio, on April 18th, 2025.
