James P. "Butch" Elliott, Sr. was born to Phillip, and Margaret Elliott on April 23, 1943, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He attended E.E. Smith High School, and Fayetteville State University before enlisting in the United States Army in 1963. He served his country for three years.
After leaving the military, James moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he worked at the Cuyahoga Hills Boys School, and then as a Corporal for the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department (Detention). He retired from the Sheriff's Department after 30+ years.
James departed this life on September 4, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phil, and Margaret, brother, Marvin, daughter, Erika, and grandson, Aaron.
James leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 42 years, Sandra, three children, James (Sonya), Kim Elliott-White (Andre), and Erin (Jonathan), four grandchildren, Sydni, Malcolm, Andre, and Jonathan "LJ", three great-grandchildren, Judah, Ava, and Jaxon, six siblings, Carolyn Elliott-Nelson, George "Coot" (Christine), Marzella Jones (Ronnie), Phyllis "Babysis" Elliot-Young (Turner), Maurice "Bruh" (Barbara), and Odester Elliott-Fleming (Nacoties), along with a host of other relatives, and friends.
