Isreal Barnes was born on July 9, 1948 to Maggie and Jesse Barnes, one of 11 children. His siblings, Delores (Charles) Smiley (deceased), Dorothy (Randy) Stowers (deceased), Lavonia (Stephen) Lewis, Jesse Barnes Jr (deceased), Lemora, James (Annette) Nelson, Ann Bates, Kathleen (Darrell) Ragland, Difranco (Myra) Barnes, Sharon, and Grady Thomas.
Isreal received his education in the Cleveland Public Schools, he was employed at Fisher Fazio Ware House for many years and attended The House of the Lord at Church of God & Christ.
Isreal was married to Sandra and they were blessed with one child, Queenie Lee Barnes; six granddaughters, Tomika Barnes, LaToya Barnes, Jannie Barnes (William Edley) Teisha Barnes, Kashay Barnes and Nevach; and seven great grandchildren.
Isreal loved to dance and listen to music. a few of his favorite songs were Lets Get it On by Marvin Gaye, and If I don't Have Nothing, I don't have You by Alicia Keys. Isreal loved being around family and friends, he also loved to cook, ride bikes, and sing. He was loved by many and he loved helping people, he would give you the shirt off his back. His daughter Queenie was his rock, and her father was hers.
