Isabel Lewis entered the world on March 17th, 1920 to her loving parents the late Frank Lewis and Nelly Bertha Brown Lewis in King George County Virginia. Frank and Nelly cherished Isabel along with her siblings Herman, Robert, Elizabeth, Mary Lucy, Lillian, Leon, and Brownie. Even as a child Isabel had a playful spirit as she loved to laugh and tell jokes. Isabel attended King George County High School where she was an intelligent, attentive student and graduated as valedictorian of her class. She always yearned for greater knowledge. Her calming spirit drew people in and she was a friend to many. Isabel later moved to Cleveland Ohio and married the love of her life Robert L. Dickerson in September of 1952 becoming Mrs. Isabel L. Dickerson. There they built a life of nurtured love. For over 20 years Isabel worked for the United States Government in the Veterans Administration Regional Department. She was a skillful seamstress and took pride in her beautiful work. Isabel was a masterful storyteller and enjoyed a captive audience, she'd draw you in and keep you for hours. She was a gracious and giving woman. The Lord's light shone brightly through everything she had a hand in. Isabel fiercely loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she served and represented in everything she did. There was nothing she would not do to help those in need. She was absolutely gracious, her spirit was always warm and generous. Fearfully and wonderfully made, her spirit had a gravitational force, pulling so many people in. Isabel was a loyal member of East Mt Zion Baptist Church. With joy, Isabel served as a leader and member of The Women's Auxiliary Julia Circle. Giving of her time and talent was first nature. Isabel worked as a volunteer for the Life-Line Program and was a member of the Repast Committee. On Monday February 25th Isabel went home to be with the Lord. Left to cherish her memory is her sister Lillian Gillis, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
