Henry Foster, 81, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Henry was born on March 11, 1942 in Columbus, Georgia. He was twin to Henry Lou (Foster) Snellings, and the fourth of 11 children born to Dorothy Bell (Reese) and Walter James Foster.
Henry confessed his love for Christ at an early age in Columbus, Georgia, where he was born and raised, and attended Spencer High School. Once moving to Cleveland, Ohio, to join his uncle and aunt, Henry and Estelle Foster, Sr., he attended Glenville High School. After high school, he honorably served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Japan. On August 10, 1968, he married the love of his life, Verdell (Poe) Foster. To this union, their loving daughter, Kimme was born. The two were married 53 years and were devout members of Bethany Baptist Church where his aunt Estelle was a mother of the church. Henry was employed at TRW Valve Plant for over 20 years and retired from Airfoil Textron.
Henry was a loving and caring husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, and neighbor. Family was everything to him. He returned to his hometown of Columbus, Georgia as often as he could to reconnect with beloved family members. He enjoyed traveling, keeping up with and supporting family in any way possible, and opening his home to family gatherings - especially at Thanksgiving. His all-time favorite pastime was going to the racetrack. He also enjoyed nature, especially visiting aquariums and gardening; watching football, horse racing and documentaries; and making the best breakfast and BBQ ever. His kind, caring, generous spirit will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Walter; loving wife Verdell; twin sister Henry Lou Snellings; sister Emma Lou Ford; brothers William, Willie, Walter and Roy. In-laws, Lawrence and Carrie Poe, and sister-in-law Ernestine Poe. He leaves behind to mourn his death and cherish his memory, his loving daughter Kimme, sisters Barbara Jean Sanders, Doris Ogletree and Glenda Mae Burkes, brother Jesse James Foster (Glenda), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
