Harvey T. Banks

September 16, 1943 — February 17, 2020

Harvey T. Banks was born on September 16, 1943, in Madison, Georgia to Johnny Edwards and Carrie Banks. He was the oldest of nine children. Harvey grew up in Cleveland where he attended John Hay High School. He joined the United States Army on July 1, 1961, and served until July 23, 1964, where he received an Honorable discharge. Harvey received decoration as Expert Rifle and Sharpshooter (Pistol). He traveled to Germany during his military service. Military service was a great pride of accomplishment for Harvey and he told many stories about the various countries and cities he served in. Harvey worked at many occupations during his lifetime, from the VA Hospital, AT&T Phone Company, Taxi driver, Insurance Agent, and finally self-employed as a Tax Preparer where he had over 100 clients through training at H&R Block Tax. Harvey took a lot of pride in his knowledge of tax law and really looked forward to the tax season. He was a very intelligent man when it came to the tax laws, and any problem or situation presented to him by family and friends. Harvey's favorite hobby was traveling to the various casinos from Canada and thru out the neighboring states around Ohio. Harvey and his companion Ms. Kitty had many memorable adventures driving around to the various casinos. He had his own methods for lucky numbers and looked forward to each lottery drawing day. He also enjoyed cooking before he took ill, and banana pudding was one of his favorite dishes. Harvey had many acquaintances and was known throughout the Cleveland neighborhoods. He had a Good Father affect when it came to the people he loved. Harvey was a great protector of his family. Harvey passed on February 17, 2020, and although he will be missed by family and friends we know he can now be united with his wife Diane whom he says was the love of his life. He leaves behind a host of friends and family.
