Hallie Smith Briggs

HALLIE LOUISE SMITH-BRIGGS (nee FOUNTAIN); Mrs. Hallie Louise Fountain Smith-Briggs was born May 9, 1929 to Dr. & Mrs. Richard & Louise Fountain in Atlanta Ga. She left Atlanta and moved to New York then Settled in Cleveland Ohio. In the early 50's where she set forth the beginning of her life's many accomplishments. First of which was becoming the first young African-American female to excel in the highest nationwide awards with Tupperware, landing her a major manager's position, not stopping there she then started her own business to became an entrepreneur. Starting with her first store in Women's hair fashions (Wigs) with all the best and latest fashions. She then moved on up to opening her own clothing store, ranging in top fashions for Women and Men, It didn't stop with just one store but two locations. She then decided to further her education with an Arts Degree while taking a course in Real Estate to obtain her realty license. Still not stopping she started buying properties to secure her future and even though dealing with some life threatening medical issues she survived and with all the challenges she faced she always came through with such drive, passion and determination. And please don't forget that amazing smile, her impeccable style and her wonderful sense of humor, never knew anyone like her, she was certainly one of a kind (smile). She was a very devoted member of Lee Memorial AME Church. Hallie touched many lives throughout her journey and will be truly missed by many. She is preceded in death by parents, Dr. & Mrs. Richard & Louise Fountain; sister Emma (TJ) Smith; nephew James T. Smith (Jimmy). She is survived by son's, R. Smith-Bey (Michelle) and Dennis Smith; life Companion, Clarence Griffin; daughter, Earnestine Moree; grandchildren, Lil' Hallie, Richard "Lil Ricky", Tina, Cynthia, Althea; 4 more grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of family and friends A Special Thank you to Wendy, Sara, Molly and Pat. SERVICES IN LOVING MEMORY ARE ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2015; WAKE: 10:30 A.M. FUNERL SERVICE 11:00 A.M. at Lee Memorial AME Church,861 EAST 105TH STREET, CLEVELAND, OHIO 44106. Interment in Lake View Cemetery.
