Gloria Harris

January 29, 1933 — July 5, 2019

On Friday, July 5, 2019, loving mother, wife, and gracious friend to many, Mrs. Gloria Harris of Shaker Heights, passed with family by her side. Gloria was born in Valdosta, Georgia on January 29, 1933, to Carrietta Futch and Fred Bridges. Gloria and her mother moved to Cleveland when she was 8 years old.  Gloria graduated from East Tech High School.  In 1955, Gloria married her soul mate, Robert Harris.  Theirs was a union that stood the test of time for 63 years.  Robert and Gloria raised their son Eric and then, later on, their niece, Regina Hubbert. Gloria held jobs at Huron Road Hospital as a nurse's aide and also at H & Levine Company, where she worked as a seamstress and grew her love for fashion (clothing & home).  Gloria also worked at United Parcel Service. When not working away from home, Gloria was a stay-at-home wife and mother, where she took care of her family. At the age of 12, Gloria devoted her life to Christ, being baptized at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, eventually moving to Mt. Haven Missionary Baptist Church, her current church home. Gloria was always one to ask if you knew about the Lord.  If you didn't, she'd say, "Get to church and learn about Him!" Gloria is survived by her son Eric (Melynee) of Shaker Heights, her grandchildren Sydney Harris and Elijah Durham-Harris, and her niece Regina Hubbert; as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and other loved ones.
