Frederick Bernard McCollum, affectionately known as "Poppo", 63, beloved father, brother, and son, was called to his eternal resting place on November 15, 2024. He entered this world on April 4, 1961 in Cleveland, OH, born to Catherine McCollum.
He is survived by his daughters Debanesha Wright; Chisa Smith (Edward Smith); Shavaun James; Ilissa James; his sons Madison James (Morgan James); and Michael Mccollum, as well as his siblings Wanda, Raymond, Cheryl, and Odell. He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine; sister, Regina Rice; and brother, Jimmy Rice. He leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and others.
In addition to being a phenomenal chef, movie buff, and music aficionado who loved trivia and boardgames, Frederick briefly served in the Army from 1979 to 1980 after leaving East High School. His favorite pastime was playing chess with anyone who would dare to challenge him. His competitive nature was present in everything he set out to do.
He loved anything that rendered cause for celebration, especially birthdays and holidays. He took pride in being able to remember the birthdays of everyone he loved and made sure he was the first call or text to wish you well for your special day. Frederick was also known for his love and knowledge of all things sports related and was an avid Cleveland fanatic. His smile, wit, and presence will be missed by all who knew and loved Freddie Mac off Star.
