Forrestine Woodland Britton was born on December 5, 1956, in Somerville, Tennessee to her loving parents of Richard and Alberta Woodland. She was the fifth child of 13 children. Forrestine and Andre were joined together 22 years ago becoming the best of friends and then husband and wife. The family moved to Cleveland, Ohio while Forrestine was a young child. Forrestine was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. Most of all she was a loving child of God.
She attended the Cleveland Public School System where she graduated from East High in 1975. During high school she conceived her daughter LaJohn Rivers but that did not stop her from the most important thing she loved which was attending school. In 1982 Forrestine took on the full responsibility of raising Sihyra her deceased brother (Vaughn) child. Forrestine went on to attend Dyke College now (Chancellor University) where she majored in Word Processing and graduated in 1985. She attended Remington College majoring in Medical Assisting graduated in 1996. Forrestine joined the University Hospital, (Richmond Campus), where she worked in the Psychiatric Unit as a Secretary. Forrestine worked there for 14 years and retire on January 19, 2022.
Forrestine enjoyed singing, cooking, reading and spending time with her family. She took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Forrestine loved going to Tennessee to visit with family during summer vacations. Every Friday she'd go to play Pokeno with family and friends until morning rise. She also loved going on casino trips. Most of all she loved Christmas time! She would always say "I love this time of year the most because I can give and make others happy!" Everyone knew to never tell her she was going overboard at Christmas time.
Forrestine was called home on March 10, 2022. She's proceeded in death by her father Richard, sister Charlotte, brothers Lorenzo, Vaughn, Darrell, Lloyd and Casey. Forrestine will be missed by her loving husband Andre Britton, mother Alberta, daughters LaJohn (Chris) and Sihyra; One brother, Don, five sisters, Johnella (Oscar), Rosie (Willie), Janice, Carolyn, Pamela and one sister/cousin Lucy. Grandchildren Charmayne (Eric), Shequilla, Fredrick, Shamarra, Sharmeka, Jivaughnte, Dre'Shawn and Ja'Niya. Along with 12 great grandchildren and 1 expecting July 2022. She also leaves a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
