Evelyn Hall

July 7, 1950 — September 24, 2022

Evelyn Hall was born July 7, 1950 in Montgomery, Alabama to the late Larnworth and Annie Lee Hall. She was the fourth born of nine children. Evelyn attended McDavid Elementary school in Montgomery. The family moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1966. The entire family attended the Bethel SDA Church where Evelyn became a baptized member in 1967 and where her church membership remained until her passing. She attended Addison Jr. High and East High Schools. After finishing high school Evelyn matriculated at Oakwood College, now Oakwood University, where she studied religion. While at Oakwood Evelyn spent her vacations and summers working as a colporteur, now known as literature evangelist. Evelyn loved the LORD and her educational pursuit was to work as a Bible Worker for the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Evelyn was blessed to raise two sons Jeremy Stephen and Tony, she loved them very much. Evelyn was very active in church and served in many roles including, Bible Worker, AYS (MV) leader, Pathfinder Counselor, deaconess, hospitality, choir and usher.

Growing up with eight siblings Evelyn was sometimes a prankster. She loved being a part of a large family. She loved the outdoors, hiking, going to parks, watching the sunset at Lake Erie, and fishing.

Evelyn was an outgoing person and made friends almost anywhere she went. When she had the opportunity she traveled to different states, tourist attractions and events. Family was important to Evelyn. She enjoyed playing all types of games with her children, nieces, and nephews. Many of her nieces and nephews in their youth spent time with Aunt Evelyn. She had a deep love for her grandchildren and spent a lot of time caring for and loving on them.

Thanksgiving was a happy time for Evelyn. It was a time when she, her children, and all her siblings and their children would come to together for food, fun, laughter, sharing childhood memories, and sheer joy and fellowship. The most recent family gathering was in June of this year, at the wedding of her brother James Hall who married Michelle Debardeleben. Evelyn was determined to attend the wedding despite doctors' orders or recommendations. This last joyous occasion with Evelyn is one we will all cherish.

Cooking was something she really loved. On a relaxed day she could spend hours looking at recipes, deciding which ones she wanted to try. In the kitchen she was a perfectionist creating a variety of dishes with her culinary skills. At times she didn't realize how delicious her food creations were. Some of her favorite dishes include oatmeal patties, glutton, corn bread dressing, pot roast, meatloaf, cakes, pies and many unique casseroles.

Evelyn enjoyed the arts from a young age. Singing, reading and memorizing poetry were two of her favorite activities. She rekindled her love for stage performance when she took the role as "Mary" with the Women of the Bible drama group. Also, later in her life she found a love for painting with natural scenes being her work of choice.

Evelyn departed this life on September 24th after a prolonged illness surrounded by her sons, siblings, nieces, pastor and church friends, singing, praying, scripture reading, hugging and kissing her, thanking her by sharing fond memories, and speaking words of love and comfort in her ear.

Evelyn leaves to mourn her sons Jeremy Stephen and Tony Hall. Grandchildren, Tristan, Karson and Adrian.
